ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART
What artwork would you want to see in space?
‘Post-terrestrial’ will see 10 artists presenting work on board a Virgin Galactic Unity sub-orbital spaceflight, scheduled to fly in 2028.
This exciting collaboration is between members of the RCA’s _Space Research Group and Tom Klinkowstein - artist, astronaut, Professor of New Media Design at Hofstra University and Adjunct Professor of Communications Design at Pratt Institute - alongside an expanded network of space artists and researchers.
The RCA _Space Research Group operates at the intersection of art and aerospace, working towards the democratisation of space exploration by asserting the role of the arts beyond terrestrial sites and traditions.
The work will take a variety of forms, including physical artworks carried onboard, performances carried out during the flight, as well as artistic responses to data collected during the mission, and from its preparation and aftermath.
